Exhibition: “The Kastorians in Canada: Recollections of a Community”

The Canadian Institute in Greece presents the exhibition The Kastorians in Canada: Recollections of a Community to be held at the Institute’s premises, the Nick Mirkopoulos Centre, from November 27 until December 18 2025.
The exhibition presents the journey of Kastorians from Greece to Canada, mainly during the period 1950-1970, many of them to work in the fur industry in Montreal and Toronto. The exhibition presents the journey, settlement, work and social life of Kastorians in Montreal and Toronto through personal photographs from that period, articles from Greek diaspora newspapers, and testimonials from Kastorians through videotaped interviews. The exhibition will conclude on December 18, 2025 with a lecture by Dr. Sakis Gekas, Associate Professor Hellenic Heritage Foundation Chair in Modern Greek History, Department of History York University, Toronto.
