“Ismène” is a personal conception of the playwright based on the inspiration of “Antigone” by Sophocles. It is an attempt to give reason to an unjust form of tragedy that narrates its own version of things in front of the audience through a unique aesthetic dramaturgical monologue.
Carole Fréchette was born in 1949 in Montreal, Québec, Canada. She is a widely celebrated dramatist, winning numerous prizes including the Governor General’s Award. She is the author of over 25 plays, many translated in over twenty languages.
